Currently I’m focused on improving payout initiatives and streamlining taxes experiences for drivers on the Lyft Driver App as a part of the Pii (Payment, Identity, and Integrity) team.
Over the years, I’ve worked across multiple teams at Lyft, designing data analytical dashboards for leaderships and streamlining internal tools to support developer workflows.
I’m Kanchan Gaur, a Product Designer based in Los Angeles.
I’ve contributed to several of Lyft’s core experiences that includes designing solutions for the Driver App, Business Health Analytical Dashboard and Developer Workflows:
As part of my role at The Glue, a firm focused on the transit industry, I’ve had the opportunity to contribute to several high-impact projects for public agencies across Los Angeles including LA Metro, Metrolink, the City of West Hollywood, InfraStrategies, etc
Each project may differ, but I follow a consistent set of principles:
Research Driven
I immerse myself in the problem space, understanding users, business needs, and technical constraints. Research and data guide every decision making.
Adaptive Thinking
Every project has unique constraints. I adjust my approach based on goals, timelines, team structure, and resources—balancing creativity, technical feasibility, and delivery speed.
Structured Exploration
Early stages are for ideation—sketching, flow mapping, and prototyping. I use low- to high-fidelity wireframes to test ideas, validate quickly, and iterate based on feedback.
Visual Design
Great design is not just usable, it’s delightful. I create clean, accessible, and visually cohesive interfaces that enhance clarity, reflect the brand, feel intuitive and effortlessly interactive.
Team Collaboration
I work closely with PMs, engineers, and cross-functional partners to align on intent. I maintain organized, annotated design files to enable fast handoffs and onboard new team members.
Systems Thinking
I don’t just design, I create systems that are scalable with the product. From components to documentation, I focus on structure, consistency, reducing long-term design debt.
I’ve contributed to several of Lyft’s core experiences that includes designing solutions for the Driver App, Business Health Analytical Dashboard and Developer Workflows:
Marketplace Team – Data Analytical Dashboards
I’ve designed internal data analytical dashboards used by Lyft’s top executives to drive business decisions
Developer Experience Team – Internal Tools
I’ve built intuitive tools to support deployments, risk tracking, and daily operations for our internal engineering teams.
Pii (Payment, Identity & Integrity) Team – Driver App
I’ve led initiatives to improve tax workflows and make earnings documents more accessible for drivers.
Transit Design Work in Los Angeles
As part of my role at The Glue, a firm focused on the transit industry, I’ve had the opportunity to contribute to several high-impact projects for public agencies across Los Angeles including LA Metro, Metrolink, the City of West Hollywood, InfraStrategies, etc
LA Metro – Safety and Security Hub Webpage
I collaborated directly with LA Metro’s executive leadership to design the Safety & Security Hub
LA Metro – Customer Experience Hub Webpage
I partnered with the Customer Experience Team to launch their first Customer Experience webpage.
Metrolink – Rider Research & Ticketing UX
Led user research at Union Station to uncover ticketing pain points and improve the design of Metrolink’s Ticket Vending Devices (TVDs) and Ticket Operating Machines (TOMs).
Life in Los Angeles
Living in Los Angeles has taught me the importance of balancing work, health, and joy. I start my mornings early with a 25-minute run, followed by a gym session, a shower, and daily puja.
Lighting a diya and spending a few minutes in prayer grounds me before I begin my day as a product designer.
I’m grateful for a loving husband and our energetic 10-year-old son who keep life full of laughter and purpose.
At work, I’m surrounded by a talented, supportive team. Our weekly ritual, Wine Wednesday, gives us a chance to reconnect, share ideas, and have fun.
Occasionally, we take our collaboration outdoors with client meetings and offsite hangouts.
Weekends are for nature and movement. I love hiking the local trails with friends.
Unwinding in the evenings with a swim nothing beats the saltwater pool to wrap up the day.
More Projects and Skills
Beyond core product design, I enjoy putting my skills to use across a range of creative projects—from visual makeovers to photography that captures personality and emotion.
Prototyping Skills
I use prototyping to bring ideas to life—whether it’s for mobile flows or dashboard interactions. From low-fidelity concepts to high-fidelity, clickable prototypes, I validate ideas early, test usability, and ensure stakeholder alignment. It’s where strategy meets speed, helping shape better product decisions through interaction.
UI & Visual Design Improvements
I I love turning cluttered interfaces into clean, intuitive designs. Through before-and-after visuals, I showcase how I improve layout, hierarchy, and visual clarity—enhancing both usability and brand presence. Typography, color, and spacing are my tools to create systems that are not only functional but aesthetically strong.
Photography Work
Photography allows me to explore visual storytelling beyond the screen. I’ve captured headshots and group portraits for the InfraStrategies team, and photographed animals at LA Animal Services to support adoption efforts. From people to pets, I enjoy creating images that feel honest, warm, and emotionally engaging.
